Lexilogy-START
A first encounter with sounds and words
For children aged 5 to 7
No rushing, no pushing. Moving at the pace your child can handle, at exactly the right moment
Somewhere between the age of five and six, something remarkable happens
A child begins to understand that sounds and symbols belong together. That the word 'hit' is made of three sounds. That you can blend those sounds into a word, and take them apart again. It sounds obvious. But it is a process of dawning awareness. And it needs time.
Lexilogy-START guides that process. Calmly. Step by step. Without pressure.
Lexilogy-START consists of two phases that follow each other, together one programme.
Phase 1: Sound awareness (age 5). Recognising sounds. Splitting words. Blending sounds. The very first building blocks of reading and spelling.
Phase 2: Beginning to read and spell (ages 6/7). From sound to letter. From letter to sound. The basis of reading, laid slowly and carefully.
Sound to word: reading in Lexilogy-START
This video shows the reading module of Lexilogy-START: from short, phonetically regular words like rib and hit, via words with a 2-token sound such as beef, mood and cloud, to words with more consonants, such as swing, smart, bound and ground. Each word is first shown slowly, sound by sound, then faster, until your child reads it in one go.
The programme is designed to be spread over two years. That is not a weakness, it is the method. A child of five and a half has a different brain than a child of seven. Lexilogy-START follows that development.
Curious how Lexilogy-START works in Dutch, or in Greek? Each version follows its own route, shaped to that language's own structure.
Lexilogy-START is for children aged 5 to 7 who are beginning to read and write, at home or at school
It is built for two combinations, English-Dutch and English-Greek, which makes it especially suited to families raising children in one of those language pairs: the same gentle structure, in whichever language comes first.
It is not remediation for a diagnosed problem, it is a preventive intervention. For a child growing up bilingual, English-Dutch or English-Greek, that timing matters most: this is the age before 'is it dyslexia, or is it the second language' becomes an impossible question to answer. Laying the foundation now, in the strongest language first, means a difficulty has less room to hide behind 'the second language will settle in', including for children showing early signs, like slow rhyming or a history of speech delay.
Not sure whether your child is ready? Get in touch. I am happy to think along.
Is your child older than seven and stuck on reading and spelling? Then Lexilogy is the programme that fits.

Lexilogy-START is finished and fully usable. But before the definitive launch, I want to refine the programme together with a small group of parents. So Lexilogy-START is now available as early access, limited to the first 25 families.
As an early access family you get the full programme at a lower rate
In return I ask one thing: share your experiences with me. What works, what could be better, where your child got stuck. That is how we build something better, together.
