Lexilogy

The reading and spelling intervention that teaches children to see into words

Your child learns more than letters and sounds. They learn to understand how words work. That is what sets Lexilogy apart from every other programme.

For ages 8 to 18 · Research-based method · At home, at your own pace.

Which child is Lexilogy for?

Lexilogy is for children from age 8 who get stuck on reading and spelling while keeping up everywhere else. Children who know the rules but keep getting the words wrong. Who struggle with automatisation: the fluent, effortless reading and writing that seems to come to others without thinking.

For Lexilogy it makes no difference.

The programme does not look at the label. It looks at the process. And if your child is already in secondary school: even more so. Lexilogy is also for young people of 12 to 18, and it is not childish. No game characters, no animations, but a calm design that a teenager can work with without embarrassment.

Is your child younger and only just beginning to read and write? Then Lexilogy-START is the gentle first encounter with sounds and words.

English is a beautiful, unreasonable language

Here is the honest truth about English: it is a deep orthography.

Words often cannot be spelled the way they sound, or pronounced the way they are written

Take nation and national: the same root, spelled the same, pronounced completely differently. A child who relies on sound alone is being asked to memorise thousands of exceptions. Most programmes respond with exactly that: memorisation. Lexilogy responds with structure. Because underneath the unreasonable surface, English is remarkably orderly:

nat-ion

nat-ion-al

nat-ion-al-ise

inter-nat-ion-al-is-ation

What looks like the hardest word in the language turns out to be the most transparent, once you see the building blocks

That insight is what Lexilogy teaches

How Lexilogy works: four courses, one route

Every word in the programme has been selected and grouped by sound structure, word structure and origin, and every exercise has been tested against linguistic, cognitive and didactic standards. The route deliberately separates the difficulties of English, so your child faces one challenge at a time.

Course 1: The sound-symbol system. 17 lesson blocks. Your child learns to separate, blend and manipulate the sounds in words, using the interactive sound board, with fully transparent one-syllable words: hit, box, bed, building up to clusters like blend, frost and strip. No irregularities yet. First the system, so the child feels in charge of it.

Course 2: Similar sounds. 51 blocks, half lessons, half reading. Now the irregularities, but in order. You may know this territory as "sight words", an old term that suggests these words must be memorised by eye alone, as if only the eyes play a role. They do not: these words still need phonological processing. So Lexilogy groups them by sound. Most words with the /e/ sound are simply written like bed. Only a few are not: said, deaf, thread. Your child reads the regular ones and learns only the irregular ones by heart. That is not just clearer, it is more economical: why memorise a thousand words when the real list is short?

Course 3: The r-influence. 37 lesson and reading blocks. One letter in English quietly changes everything before it: the r. Compare pain and pair, or spade and spare. The vowel sound shifts under the influence of the r. Most programmes never make this explicit. Lexilogy gives it its own course, so a pattern that felt like randomness becomes a rule your child can hold on to.

Course 4: Complex word structures. 49 lesson blocks. Words understood from the inside. Prefixes, roots and suffixes, negations, assimilation and etymology, trained through playful interactions and flash words that appear in their morphemic structure, in colour. This is where sound-based strategies fail (nation, national) and structure-based strategies win. It is the part most programmes skip, and the part Lexilogy never lets go.

3 to 4 sessions per week · 20 to 30 minutes per session · On a computer or laptop (tablet version in development)

The reading modules: training speed, at your child's pace

Alongside the lesson blocks, Lexilogy has reading modules that train reading itself:

flash word modules building from simple cvc words up to complex consonant clusters, and

modules for reading complex word structures, in which the word parts flash on screen in colour: the prefix purple, the root blue, the suffix orange.

Your child chooses the tempo and builds it up. On slow, you read the whole word. On faster settings you can train with precision: only the prefix, only the root, only the suffix. And on the fastest setting the word appears in black, and your child gets to find the prefix themselves. One step harder, and exactly that makes it motivating.

The lesson blocks follow a fixed route. But the reading modules are always open. You can go back, go ahead, and keep practising for as long as you like, also after the programme is finished. Many children keep going for months, simply because now it works.

Curious howLexilogy works in Dutch, or in Greek? Each version follows its own route, shaped to that language's own structure.

What exactly do you get?

After purchase you receive a personal login for your child. No subscription. No expiry date. No extra costs.

Access to the full programme, at your child's own pace, at home or anywhere

The lesson blocks follow a fixed structure, deliberately: the build-up is the method.

The reading modules stay open forever, so your child can keep training reading speed for as long as they like, also after the programme is finished.

Why one-time, and not per year?

Because Lexilogy is not software your child rents

It is an intervention with a beginning and an end

Your child completes the programme and walks away with the foundation they needed. A subscription would suggest endless practice. The opposite is true: a good intervention makes itself unnecessary. And afterwards? The login never expires, and the flash word modules stay open. Your child can keep reading, without a running meter.

What does Lexilogy cost?

€450 — one-time

No subscription. No monthly fees. Bought once, yours forever, including permanent access to the flash word modules. For comparison: a single one-to-one remedial session costs between €50 and €80 in most countries, and a full private trajectory runs into the thousands. Lexilogy is a complete, research- based intervention for less than the price of ten sessions.
